Traditional House Coal

House coal is a naturally occurring non-smokeless fuel available in 3 sizes.

High quality house coal has no more than 15% ash content and no more than 2% sulphur content, and must not be burnt in smokeless zones. If you not sure if you are in a smokeless zone, please contact us and we will be happy to advise you. There is an exception where traditional house coal can be used providing it is used in an approved ‘smoke-eater’ appliance.

House coal is ideal for open fires, but it can also be burnt on multi-fuel stoves and Rayburn-type cookers, where appliance manufacturers recommend it, and where Smoke Control regulations do not apply.

House Coal is produced in the UK by UK Coal Ltd at Kellingley and also can be sourced from Scotland.
